According to the most recent data from Australian Bureau of Statistics, in 2010 there were 1.2 million higher education students in Australia, of whom 857,000 (72%) were domestic students and 335,000 (28%) were international students.

Education Standard

Australia boasts one of the best education systems in the world and Australian universities have excellent reputations for both teaching and research. Their qualifications are internationally recognised and highly regarded by employers and other universities all over the world. Australian universities are consistently ranked among the best internationally (more details below).

Study Cost

Studying at an Australian university or TAFE can often be considerably less expensive in comparison to study options in other developed countries, such as the United Kingdom and United States.

This applies to both the cost of living and tuition fees, and is a benefit further enhanced by the generous range of scholarship opportunities, many of which can significantly reduce the cost of studying in Australia.

Lifestyle

Studying in another country is a unique opportunity to experience a different culture and lifestyle. Thousands of tourists head to Australia each year to try an ‘Aussie way of life’.

Thanks to favourable climate, safe and stable environment, attractive surrounds and friendly people you can admire Spectacular landscapes, beautiful beaches, rainforests and amazing wildlife. Australia has a moderate climate similar to Mediterranean regions and in some cities such as Sydney you will experience sunshine all year round.

Work Permit

There are opportunities for international students to work up to 40 hours in two weeks’ period whilst studying. This can not only help you to meet part of their daily expenses, but also having local work experience will significantly help you in future job prospects and possible migration to Australia.

School Support

Uniquely to Australia, all education institutions must support international students in adjusting to study and life in Australia, achieving their learning goals and satisfying the learning outcomes of their course. This includes providing information on arrival about: support services to help facilitate a smooth transition to life in Australia, legal services, emergency and health services, facilities and resources, etc.

Government Protection

All Australian institutions accepting international students on a student visa are legally required to provide quality courses and to meet the national standards for student services and institutional facilities under Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000.

That means that all your tuition fees are protected by law so if your education provider goes bankrupt, you will either receive a refund of your money or, if refund is not possible, you will be placed in an alternative course.
